LEADING

LADIES:

Suffragettes, Supremes and In-Betweens. The women who climbed Capitol Hill.

From voting rights to representation in top governmental positions, women have lead the way for other women.  Join me as we explore the women leaders of Capitol Hill who worked tirelessly for the right to vote, to serve in Congress and on the Supreme Court, and for the first time in over 200 years, become The Librarian of Congress.

This tour will begin at The National Archives and walk in route approximately 1.5 miles toward Capitol Hill.

Amy is originally from Ohio but made her way to Washington DC a long, long time ago to work for a congressman and then the U.S.Navy. Parenting came next which was the best job of all followed by teaching preschool in Northern Virginia.

Amy's love of all things DC from sports teams, art museums, history, architecture and government combined with talking to complete strangers led her to tour guiding. Amy is a licensed tour guide and has been leading tours since 2010.  She received her guiding certification from Northern Virginia Community College and continuing education through The Guild of Professional Tour Guides of which she is a member.

You can find Amy almost every Friday at the most beautiful building in the city, The Library of Congress, as a volunteer docent. And she is proud to guide her hometown heroes, Honor Flight Dayton (Ohio), a veterans organization, when they come to DC several times a year.

Amy travels as much as possible and she and her husband have the lofty goal of going to all the national parks.
