A Tour Of Her Own elevates Women’s History Month to a new level with this 10-day celebration of women in American history and culture. History enthusiasts or curious locals can participate in tours and events scheduled every day between February 28th - March 8th, 2020.

Friday, February 28th (5:30p-7:30p)

Get a behind the scenes look at how A Tour Of Her Own is revolutionizing the tourism industry and improving the way we learn history. Network with others before hearing directly from the TOHO team during an informative panel discussion about their mission, vision, and commitment to community and women’s history. A question and answer portion will follow where audience members will be encouraged to engage.

Tickets are "pay what you can" style with three options to choose from. Your ticket purchase helps support A Tour Of Her Own, Femme Fatale, and CollabCreate which are all are local, women-owned businesses in Washington DC. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

THE HARRIET TUBMAN HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE

Saturday, February 29th (8:00a-7:00p)

An all-inclusive guided bus tour from Washington, DC to Dorchester County, Maryland. This full-day itinerary includes visits to various historical sites that explore the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman. Leading the trip is a team of professional tour directors and a licensed tour guide to provide background, context, stories and relevant information along the way.

While callboxes were once part of the city's emergency services system, today many stand as public art installations. Eight boxes have recently been converted to share the story of eight significant women in our city's history, ranging from Katherine Graham to Alice Paul, Mary Church Terrell to Julia Ward Howe. This brisk one hour tour will make a quick stop at each callbox and we'll learn about the women who helped shape our nation.

From paintings of women with names like Saint Helena the Empress of the Roman Empire to women who remain nameless to this day, artists offer windows into their societies and the roles played within them. This tour will take us through the National Gallery of Art’s collection to discuss women who existed in places of power and in situations without power both in front of artists and as the artists themselves. Women were subjects, patrons, muses, mythology, and artists but most clearly, they were there from the beginning until now. Join the discussion as we look beyond the superficial to see what we can learn from the past that only the artists dared to tell us.

Republic Restoratives is a women-owned distillery in Washington, DC. This tour lasts one hour followed by a 30 minute discussion with A Tour Of Her Own about the history of women involved in the prohibition and temperance movements. 21+ only.
